My Top 5 Tips for Freshers Week

So in just over a month Freshers week will be upon us again. Now moving away to Uni can be a scary and overwhelming experience especially Freshers week! So here are my 5 top tips for Freshers week.

1. Go and spend time with your flat.

Now, this doesn’t mean you have to do everything with them or just go on nights out, but just make sure you aren’t the person that just locks themselves in their room and never speaks to anyone.

2.  Actually, go to your induction lectures

This might seem pointless as you are probably thinking they don’t tell you anything you don’t already know. Well, you are very wrong, they give you a proper insight into the course and if you go and decided that the course isn’t for you then it’s not too late to change.

3. Don’t buy a Freshers Wristband

Seriously unless everyone you are planning on going out with has one, or you plan on going out every night they are a waste of money. If you are only realistically going to go out once or twice just pay entry on the door it is a lot cheaper.

4. Go and speak to people on your course

Most courses as part of there induction lectures do some sort of team building exercise, now everyone hates these. However, use these to actually get to know people on your course as you are going to be studying with them for 3 years so make some friends for lectures and seminars.

5. Go to Freshers Fair

On this note sign up for something you have never tried before, most sports and societies hold taster sessions so go along to a few and see whether it is for you. However, don’t over commit yourself and remember before any sport or society you are there to get your degree so make sure that’s always your priority.

Hope this helped a few of you out, and remember to enjoy freshers!
